We are happy to announce the publication of a paper on V3Geo, our repository for virtual 3D models in geoscience. The paper covers the background to the repository, and has usual information on how to prepare 3D models for contribution. This has been honed through correspondence with our many contributors and based on our own workflows developed over many years working with virtual outcrop data.

V3Geo is an online repository for sharing and viewing virtual 3D models aimed at geology and geoscience. Close to 300 virtual outcrops and hand sample have been contributed and are used by the scientific, professional and educational community around the world.
